What god do you want evidence for?

I recently discovered this page, in which the author tries to explain whether or not they think there’s a god or not. It’s basically just a stream of consciousness, and I disagree with pretty much all of the conclusions and ‘evidence’, but it’s quite a light-hearted look at a big question, so might interest you…

This was what interested me most. In order for the author to come to a conclusion, they decided to define what ‘God’ meant to them:

In order to continue on a sensible footing, let’s outline a ‘sketch’ of God that we can all relate to in general terms. This God created the universe, His son, Jesus, was born in Bethlehem, the mother of Jesus was Mary. God and Jesus both performed miracles. Jesus died on the cross. God is in heaven.

Here’s what I spotted: where’s the resurrection? Of all the things we read about in Scripture, surely Jesus’ resurrection is the single most important?

If Jesus died on the cross and that was the end then the Bible lied, so we may as well discount everything else it says.

But if he rose again, it means that everything he said was true! When he claimed to be God, he meant it! When he said that his death was taking our punishment for rebelling against God, his resurrection proves that it was successful!

Don’t lose the resurrection.
